General Technique Information
All Levels: Basic rise and fall on waltz should be a consistent and smooth motion. Start at neutral (flexed knees). Lower as you begin to move through 1. Roll through your foot as you begin to rise as you move on to 2. Begin to lower as you move through 3. Lower at end of three to you 'neutral' position. continue to lower for 1 . . . When you take forward steps, typical footwork is heel-toe(1), toe(2), toe-heel(3). pay attention to this. It is one of the things I consistently notice people are not doing correctly. Silver dancers: make sure you get the toe-heel on 3, many people make the mistake of taking a heel step here.
Bronze: you MUST close you feet on 3. Exception being on the three of spin turn. Feet must close on following figure.
Silver: Feet pass as you move. Always remember to bring you feet under your body as your turning. (ex. when you are going from forward to back, don't swing your fee leg around. it collects under you then proceeds to move backwards.
*Always remember to dance at your 100% when practicing. Waiting until the day of comp (or even right before the comp) will not help you improve your performance skills. You want this to become habit so when you get on the floor you can just dance and have fun.*
practice, practice, practice. both slowly and to music.
