Star Expectations

So you're interested in being part of Dancing With the UML Stars.
That's great! The show is all about you, the faculty & staff.

The show is April 28, 2010, during Spring Carnival.

Here's a rundown of what you need to know.

The Basics

  • You will be paired up with a member of the ballroom club as your partner.
  • You and your partner will learn, practice, and perform together.
  • You will be doing one dance routine in one style. Options include, but are not limited to the Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Cha Cha, Rumba, and Swing.
  • The show is one-night-only, not recurring like the television show.
  • This is a friendly competition.
  • There will be a trophy!

Expectations

  • Learn and perform a ballroom dance routine (approx. 2 minute)
  • Learn and perform a group ensemble dance number (approx. 4 minute, easier choreography)
  • Twelve week program, Best prep period yet! (previous shows have been 7 and 10 weeks)
  • 4 hour minimum time commitment per week
    • includes practice with your partner and group number rehearsals
    • additional time may be necessary towards the end of the program

Scheduling

  • Partner rehearsal is completely up to the pair. Very flexible.
  • Ensemble rehearsal will be set based on the schedules of the Stars
  • Ensemble rehearsal will be weekly and consistent
  • Performance set for April 28, 2010
