Community Club

Brand new for 2009!
UMass Lowell is proud to announce the Community Ballroom Club, allowing anyone in the Lowell area community to take part in the fun and unique club ballroom experience. Members of this club do not have to be associated with the University in any way. All that is required is a love for learning and dancing.

Membership in the Community Club centers around weekly practices on campus, which include professional lessons from our coach Amanda Clark. These practices are in the beautiful Campus Recreation Center studios, located on East Campus in Lowell. (See the venues page for more.) In addition to lessons and practice time, membership provides the opportunity to compete in the collegiate ballroom circuit, and provides full access to the social dancing resources of the UMass Lowell Ballroom Club.

LifeLinks Dance a Big Success!

On October 12th, several members of the UML Ballroom Dance Team (and a few friends from ballroom class) volunteered at LifeLinks October Dance and it turned out to be a blast!

Our volunteers spent the night helping out Gordon Halm and his fellow volunteers welcoming patrons into the dance; serving pizza, dessert, and drinks; and dancing with all the excited attendees. Our volunteers helped also to conduct a dance competition and provided a short demonstration for all the patrons.

Gordon Halm extends his graditude to all involved and hopes to continue the relationship with UML Ballroom Dance for a long time. He's even planning to come for a few lessons! As Outreach Coordinator for the club I would also like to extend a thank you to all of the members and friend who were able to be involved last Friday!
