Email is the most important method of communication between club members. This email list is how the club is informed of practices, meetings, results, and all other happenings with the club.

There are two email lists. One is for the casual friend of the club who wants to know about major upcoming events like shows and lessons. This is the Announcements list. The other is for active club members and will bring all the detailed news about club happenings. This is the Club list.

Welcome back to all the returning club members! To all the new club members, welcome. I look forward to a great year of dancing and getting to work with and know you all.

Each week, I will post notes about the lessons taught on Sunday evenings. I encourage you all to get a notebook and keep notes of your own in addition to using these notes as reminders of the patterns and technique we discuss. I will cover a lot of information in the Sunday lessons, and having a written reminder is helpful. You are always welcome to email/call me with questions you have as you are practicing or if you want a private lesson to further develop the skills we discuss in class.

The UMass Lowell Ballroom Dance Club presents its September Kick-Off Social which will held on Friday, Sept. 18 from 6-11 p.m. in Cumnock Hall on North Campus.

Start the new school year off right. Experience UML's Outstanding Student Organization of the Year!

Come dance, socialize, and enjoy yourself! No experience necessary and no partner needed! We’ll have free lessons, fun music, snacks, and most importantly: a huge dance floor. Bring your friends! It will be a great way to meet other people at UMass Lowell.

Admission: $5 / person
Tickets will be sold at the door.

Thursday 9/10: Captain's Practices start. 6:30-9 in the studio.
Sunday 9/13: First Sunday practice. 6:30-9 in studios.
Thursday 9/17: Last Captain's practice on Thursday before Instructional Classes Begin.

Sunday 9/20: Club Lessons begin. They'll be a bit different this year. More on that below. Club lessons & practice are every Sunday 6:30-9:00.

Thursday, 9-24: Instructional Classes Begin
We have two instructional classes: Beginner 6:30-7:30 and Intermediate 7:30-8:30.
Club members must assist in at least two class sessions per semester, but most are there all the time. You're always welcome to come help!

The Thursday/Sunday schedule of Instructional Classes and Club lessons continues uninterrupted through Thursday, November 12, 2009.
At that point Club lessons remain on Sundays and partner practice takes over the time on Thursdays.

Brand new for 2009!
UMass Lowell is proud to announce the Community Ballroom Club, allowing anyone in the Lowell area community to take part in the fun and unique club ballroom experience. Members of this club do not have to be associated with the University in any way. All that is required is a love for learning and dancing.

Membership in the Community Club centers around weekly practices on campus, which include professional lessons from our coach Amanda Clark. These practices are in the beautiful Campus Recreation Center studios, located on East Campus in Lowell. (See the venues page for more.) In addition to lessons and practice time, membership provides the opportunity to compete in the collegiate ballroom circuit, and provides full access to the social dancing resources of the UMass Lowell Ballroom Club.

Tonight at the Student Activities Awards Banquet the UMass Lowell Ballroom Dance club was presented with "Outstanding Student Organization of the Year."

Congratulations to everyone for a great year!

Present to accept the award were club captain Mary Angeleri, president Mark Sherman, and treasurer Heather Sweeney. Also in attendance were Anshuman Shrivastava, Ambarish Roy, Bryan Tran, and Community Club members Stacy Kadesch and Nick McKinnon.

The second-annual Dancing With the UML Stars went up last night, and it was phenomenal. The club certainly met the challenge of being "bigger and better." Everything was better, from the dancing itself to costumes to lights and sound. Most importantly, the bottom line was better.


The event raised $1,345 for the Relay For Life.


Congratulations to everyone, especially the Stars, their partners, and all of the supporting club members.

This is the schedule for the Fall 2009 semester. This schedule is for the Sunday lessons, including Student Club and Community Club. This is NOT the schedule for the beginner or intermediate instructional classes. For that, see the calendar page.

All lessons take place in the Campus Recreation Center.

If you have not danced at all before, we recommend taking the Beginner Instructional Class, which is taught on Thursdays each semester.
